One day, Bu A (our helper) got a phone call at our house that obviously upset her. She hurried to finish her work and left early, clearly not wanting to explain what was going on. The next morning with tears in her eyes, she explained that her parents and younger sister had been evicted from their home because they haven't been able to pay rent for a long time. They didn't know of any family or friends who could help them or give them a place to stay. She was helpless and hopeless.
As Rachel, Marie, and I discussed, it became clear that the Father had already prepared our answer. The night before, I had the blessing to be able to Skype the VBS children at SCBC. I truly enjoyed talking with the children and sharing about my life here in Indonesia. The children had been giving money all week for the work here and specifically to help Bu A and her family. Those children gave almost $400! As we looked at the timing and the absurdity of the Father using the money from children thousands of miles away to provide a home for a needy family, we had our answer. The Father provided!
Rachel told Bu A that children from a CH had given money the night before to help her and her family. When Bu A heard that they had given the money the night before, when we still knew nothing of her situation, she got teary-eyed and said "Now I know that the Father doesn't hate me. This morning I was convinced he did, but if what you're saying is true, then He prepared this ahead of time."
The next morning she called to let us know that she had visited the new house with her mom and upon arriving there she discovered that the owner of the house was one of her mom's relatives. They all had a good laugh and the owner of the house said they didn't need to worry about rent, they just need to pay the fees to have the electricity and water started up. Now they have a home for at least the next few years. Also, Bu A's family now has enough money to begin a new job selling snacks - currently on the street, later at Bu A's sister's school. This will provide a more steady income. To top it all off, the relative who owns their house is going to have a baby in December and has asked Bu A's mom to watch the baby - a steady job.
Bu A proceeded to tell her family and the house owner and everyone else that generous children from a CH in the States provided the funds for her family. They all marveled at the generosity that was displayed by people they don't even know.
Now a week later, the Father is continuing to open doors for further conversation. This past week Bu A asked me how I yarp. As I shared with her, the conversation returned to the story of the children in St. Louis that gave their money to help her family. She just could not fathom how children would want to give. Her question allowed me to share about how even these children all the way across the world want people in Indonesia to know about the Father.
So, the Father used a bunch of children in St. Louis to provide a home and steady work for a poor family in Indonesia. The Father used their generosity to open doors for conversations about His love and His truth.

It is pretty amazing how the Father works! Some the hands, some the feet, some the mouthpiece, some the ears. . .all working together as one body.
Thank you SCBC VBS!
